There is no doubt that Aluminum in its pure state is a universal metal that is utilized in an array of applications. However, when aluminum is combined with other elements, making what is known as an aluminum alloy, its broad range of applications is extended even further.
Here is some information on the different types and multiple uses of aluminum alloy.

1000 series are essentially pure aluminium with a minimum 99% aluminium content by weight and can be work hardened.
It is the most commonly used series in the current industry. Most of the circulation in the market is the 1050 and 1060 series. The 1000 series aluminum platedetermines the minimum aluminum content of this series according to the last two Arabic numerals. For example, the last two digits of the 1050 series are 50. According to the international trademark nomenclature, the aluminum content must be above 99.5% and it is a qualified product. China’s aluminum alloytechnical standard (gB/T3880-2006) also clearly stipulates that the aluminum content of 1050 will reach 99.5%. The same reason, the aluminum content of the 1060 series aluminum sheet must reach 99.6% or more.
2000 series are alloyed with copper, can be precipitation hardened to strengths comparable to steel. Formerly referred to as duralumin, they were once the most common aerospace alloys, but were susceptible to stress corrosion cracking and are increasingly replaced by 7000 series in new designs.
3000 series are alloyed with manganese, and can be work hardened.
4000 series are alloyed with silicon. Variations of Aluminum-silicon alloys intended for casting (and therefore not included in 4000 series) are also known as silumin.
5000 series are alloyed with magnesium, and offer superb corrosion resistance, making them suitable for marine applications. Also, 5083 alloy has the highest strength of not heat-treated alloys.
6000 series are alloyed with magnesium and silicon. They are easy to machine, are weldable, and can be precipitation hardened, but not to the high strengths that 2000 and 7000 can reach. 6061 alloy is one of the most commonly used general-purpose aluminium alloys.
7000 series are alloyed with zinc, and can be precipitation hardened to the highest strengths of any aluminium alloy (ultimate tensile strength up to 700 MPa for the 7068 alloy).

7075-T6 aluminum is 7075 aluminum in the T6 temper. To achieve this temper, the metal is solution heat-treated and artificially aged until it meets standard mechanical property requirements. Forming This alloy is comparatively strong for an aluminum alloy. As such it produces greater springback during forming operations. Forming is best done in the annealed condition and if difficulty is encountered then warming the material to 200 - 250 F will assist formability.
Welding Resistance welding is the only preferred method of joining AL 7075 alloy. Gas welding should be avoided and use of arc welding may result in degradation of corrosion resistance.
Heat Treatment This alloy may be solution annealed at 900 F for 2 hours at temperature, followed by a water quench. The alloy may then be given a precipitation hardening (aging) heat treatment -- see "Aging".
Forging The alloy may be forged in the temperature range of 900 F to 700 F. It should be solution heat treated following forging.
Hot Working Warming the material to 250 F will greatly assist formability.
Cold Working Cold working is readily accomplished with the alloy in the soft, annealed, condition. Conventional forming methods may be used, but springback is greater for this alloy than for other of the aluminum alloys.
Annealing The temperature for annealing AL 7075 alloy is 775 F, holding at temperature for 3 hours. Controlled cooling at 50 F per hour should then be used down to 500 F from which it can then be air cooled.
Aging Precipitation strengthening (aging) is done at 250 F for 24 hours and air cooled for T 6. The T 73 temper requires heating to 225 F for 8 hours followed by 24 hours at 325 F and air cooling.

Purpose: In the present study, effectiveness of a high-speed twin roll caster for recycling aluminum alloy was investigated. Design/methodology/approach: The effects of the high-speed twin roll caster on alleviating the deterioration of mechanical properties by impurities were investigated. Properties of the cast strip were investigated by metalography, a tension test, and a bending test. Findings: A vertical type twin roll caster for strip casting of aluminum alloys was devised. The strip, which was thinner than 3 mm, could be cast at speeds higher than 60 m/min. Features of the twin roll casters are as below. Copper rolls were used and lubricant was not used in order to increase the casting speed. A casting nozzle was used to set the solidification length precisely. Heat transfer between melt and the roll was improved by hydrostatic pressure of the melt. Separating force was very small in order to prevent sticking of the strip to the roll. Low superheat casting was carried out in order to improve microstructure of the strip. In the present study, effectiveness of a high-speed and high-cooling rate twin roll caster of the present study for recycling aluminum alloy was investigated. Fe was added as impurity to 6063 and A356. The roll caster of the present study was useful to decrease the influence of impurity of Fe. Research limitations/implications: A high-speed twin roll caster of vertical type was designed and assembled to cast aluminum alloy thin strip. Originality/value: The results demonstrate that the high-speed twin roll caster can improve the deterioration by impurities. Aluminum alloy strip, which freezing zone is very wide like A5182, could be cast using the twin roll caster of the present study at speeds up to 150 m/min. Features of the twin roll casters are as below. Copper rolls were used and lubricant was not used in order to increase the casting speed.
8011 aluminium strip
Heat transfer between melt and the roll was improved by hydrostatic pressure of the melt. Separating force was very small in order to prevent sticking of the strip to the roll. Low superheat casting was carried out in order to improve microstructure of the strip. A5182 strip, which had equiaxed structure, could be cast. Some heat treatment was tried and tested in order to improve the mechanical property of A5182 Aluminum alloy strip. A3003 Aluminum alloy strip was cast by low superheat strip casting. A3003 Aluminum alloy strip showed thermo-softening resistance. Semisolid strip casting of A356 alloy was tried using a twin roll caster equipped with a cooling slope. Mechanical property, especially elongation, was improved. Result of 180° bending test was improved, too. Semisolid Aluminum alloy strip casting was useful for high speed roll casting, and the casting speed increased up to 180 m/min.

The common types of medicinal aluminum strip
1060 aluminum strip requires high corrosion resistance and formability occasions, but the strength requirements are not high, chemical equipment is its typical use.
1100 aluminum strip for processing requires good formability and high corrosion resistance but does not require high-strength parts such as chemical products, food industry installations and storage containers, sheet work pieces, deep drawing or spinning concave containers, welded parts, heat exchangers, printed boards, nameplates, reflective appliances.

3, easy to process, aluminum can be cast by any casting method. Aluminum has good plasticity and can be rolled into sheets and foils, drawn into tubes and wires, extruded into various profiles, and processed with various machine tools.
4. Corrosion resistant. The surface of aluminum strip and its alloy is easy to form a dense and firm oxidation protective film. This protective film makes aluminum very resistant to atmospheric corrosion and water corrosion, and can only be destroyed under the intense action of halogen ions and alkali ions. The corrosion resistance of aluminum alloy can be improved by adopting protective measures.

5, electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity are good. The conductivity and thermal conductivity of aluminum are second only to silver, copper and gold. If the mass conductivity is calculated, its conductivity is twice that of copper.
