I am not a professional aluminum wiring master, but I did a lot of work with aluminum around the house. All of you know that aluminum melts quickly, but I'm sure it's not possible to reach such a high temperature to ignite. I never had a situation like this. It is used to make the contact between the cables better, in most cases a simple twisting of them is not enough.
